Brad plastered his mark on a 20 feet high wall at the Brooklyn Crab in Red Hook Brooklyn – April 2013

This is a small clip I created of me working in the basement of Gallery Brooklyn, in the lead up to my first solo exhibition in New York, presented by Berlin Collective.
Brad Robson at Gallery Brooklyn, March 2013. Presented by Berlin Collective (Clip 2) from Brad Robson on Vimeo.

With canvases alive with nostalgia and a personal journey mapped through the urban landscape, Robson’s works “reflect on the emotional journey one takes when navigating the developed world and beyond, contemplating our place within.”
Inspired by the city streets and laneways of his hometown and beyond, his works are immensely gestural and instinctive, allowing the viewer a unique and insight into the artist’s connection to the world around him.
Lone figures stand amongst highly contrasting black and white vacant alleys. Abstracts demand attention with all the colour and fervour of his metropolis. Blindsight is a collection of works that evoke a deeper meditation of the connection between self and the city.

Street art has jumped off the pavement and onto the walls of the STVDIO (see STVDIO blog post) and World Movies offices, with a great new commissioned piece by Sydney artist Brad Robson. The striking work uses iconic images from the world of art and film, with splashes of STVDIO branded pink and World Movies blue. Brad’s work can be spotted around the streets of Sydney, including Erskineville village where he lives.
In this time-lapse footage filmed over one weekend, you can see the talented artist at work and watch the walls come alive. – Warren Powell, Creative Services Manager
“After seeing some of Brad Robson’s work in an Inner West Sydney café, I commissioned him to create a vast wall mural for the World Movies/STVDIO offices in Artarmon that would reflect the cutting-edge content of both television channels and celebrate their brand identities. He delivered on a great balance between creative edge and corporate identity – interpreting a very tight brief and pushing the creative boundaries with his bold designs. He delivered on-budget and on-brand – working with us, the client, to deliver artwork that maintained that creative edge whilst being mindful of the potential audience and corporate environment. I’d wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone considering using his services.”

Berlin Collective presents “To Deny Our Nothingness” Group Exhibition
Curated by Carolina Puente
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 9, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Closing Day: Sunday, March 24, 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Gallery Brooklyn, 351 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Berlin Collective is pleased to present, “To Deny Our Nothingness”, curated by Carolina Puente, with selected Berlin Collective artists for a group exhibition at Gallery Brooklyn in Red Hook.
“To Deny Our Nothingness” is inspired by a book written in 1967 by Maurice S. Friedman. Focused on existentialism and contemporary images of man in the 1960’s, the book explores a 1959 MoMA exhibition titled “The New Images of Man”, a visual capsule of horrors and absurdities expressed through abstract and nonZobjective paintings and sculptures. “To Deny Our Nothingness” takes on these subjects in our current times, looking to strike a balance between “Being” and “Nature”. Each artist from the collective makes their own interpretation of “Being” and “Nature”, revealing the space between joy and sorrow, the continued renewal of humanity, and the willingness to preserve it.
Selected Berlin Collective Artists:
